City of Kuopio and Mestar Kuopio Oy adopt Vektor.io to support model-based data and project management in infrastructure

The City of Kuopio, located in Finland, and its municipally owned company Mestar Kuopio Oy have adopted Vektor.io as part of their digital transformation efforts in infrastructure and urban development projects. Moving forward, Vektor.io will serve as a centralized, browser-based platform for accessing and utilizing design and infrastructure model data through a map-based interface as projects progress.

The platform improves project situational awareness, streamlines collaboration between stakeholders, and ensures easy access to up-to-date information throughout the entire project lifecycle—from planning and construction to maintenance.

Years of piloting and market evaluation led to a confident decision

Within the City of Kuopio’s Urban Environment Division, the need for a map-based system to view and manage design and infrastructure model data has been recognized for several years. To address this, the city has piloted and evaluated multiple solutions in various projects through market analysis and real-world testing, including:

• Infrakit in the Hehkunsydän and Volttikatu projects (2019–2021)
• Trimble Connect in the Salli alliance project (2019)
• Free versions of various tools in smaller projects
• Vektor.io in two major planning-phase projects (2024–2025)

Mestar Kuopio Oy is responsible for the construction and maintenance of streets, green areas, and the urban environment in Kuopio. The company has also chosen to adopt Vektor.io through its own agreement to support its construction and maintenance operations.
